What If Wednesday: Saving The Economy With MMO’S

Now we all know that these are some pretty hard financial times we’re living in. People are down to only buying games once every several paychecks, when before a trip to Gamestop will have you coming back with like 2 or 3 games at a time. However, I’ve come to realize something while hearing stories about friends playing these so called “Sandbox” mmos. People drop a lot of money into these games. Most of the time with these games some of the better items can be purchased using real world money. Well more like real world money is used to buy in-game currency, which is then used to buy something that probably has the power to decimate an entire space fleet. All you EVE Online players will know what I’m talking about. I mean people are dropping big money into these games, I’m talking a couple of grands at a time, so I can’t help but wonder how people are getting the money for this, and if such money is indeed being dropped into these games then is it possible that these Sandbox mmos can save the economy. Now maybe that’s wishful thinking, but I can’t help but wonder sometimes if its possible.

By the way EVE Online is gorgeous game….just saying
