A new Spider-Man game is in the works and this one may restore hope in the franchise. The last few Spider-Man games have been…less than stellar but this one has some promise. The Amazing Spider-Man puts your friendly neighborhood spider in an open world environment. Sounds like a guaranteed recipe for success. The trailer isn’t the best quality but you get a quick taste of some fancy web slinging. Take a look at the trailer and let Activision restore your faith in Spider-Man. The Amazing Spider-Man is set for a Summer 2012 release date.

Guaranteed recipe for success? Eh, I dunnoooooooooo. Loads of people who liked Spiderman 2 weren’t feeling Spiderman 3 and Ultimate Spiderman the same way. I haven’t played any of the post Ultimate games, but I loved that free-roaming aspect of it. No superhero, especially somebody like Spidey, should be confined to linearity.
