Kaz Hiari, Ridge Racer aficionado and Big Boss at Sony , has confirmed that the next PlayStation will not appear at this years E3. When asked to address rumors of the upcoming console at this weeks CES, Kaz reaffirmed Sony’s commitment to a 10 year life cycle for the PlayStation 3.
“Andy [House] is absolutely right in that we are not making any announcements at E3,” Mr. Hirai said to reporters during a roundtable discussion at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
“I’ve always said a 10-year life cycle for PS3, and there is no reason to go away from that.”
While it may sadden some Sony fans who have to wait even longer for PS4 news, I think this is a great decision. With the PlayStation 3 selling great, Sony needs to refocus its muscle on the success of the Vita…like now .
