Long time President at Nintendo, Hiroshi Yamauchi died today at the age of 85. Yamauchi led Nintendo from 1949-2002. When Yamauchi took over Nintendo it was just a playing card company, under his watch it became one of the most successful video game companies of all time. Video games was admittedly never Yamauchi’s strong point but he paired his business saavy with people who were more than capable at navigating an emerging market. The industry lost a legend today but we can always look back at how the company he help build shaped us as gamers.
