The main cast in Final Fantasy IX all have a lot of character and as the game progresses you learn to love or hate them more and more. Nobuo Uematsu created character themes that did a brilliant job of capturing the character traits of the different characters. Today’s Music Monday is about Steiner’s theme. Steiner’s theme is one of the best examples of how a song can tell a story. The song builds upon itself and each addition makes the song feel more regal and fitting for a knight. The best part of the song is the sluggish up and down pace. Steiner is kind of an over serious character that comes across kind of goofy whether he intends to be or not. Steiner’s theme is the perfect balance of a knightly song that captures the nature of the character even if that nature isn’t exactly what you’d expect from a knight.
