Tell Em Why You Mad: Sore Losers

After reading the T.E.W.Y.M.post about quitters, I realized there was a group of gamers that get under my skin almost as much, the sore losers.

Those gamers that just don’t know how to take an L are some of the most annoying in gaming. There’s always an excuse for why they lost, they have never just plain lost fair and square, no sir. It’s not so much the refusal to acknowledge the loss that gets under my skin, it’s the fact that they try to just to credit away from your performance. You could have worked hard to improve your skills, you always give that person their due credit and now that it’s time to get some in return, you hear some random BS about how it wasn’t a legit win. . You get excuses like, “oh I wasn’t really trying“, “I was tired“, and the forever popular “I don’t even like this team/character“. Is it my fault that your sorry self is only good with one character?

Don’t get me wrong, there are times when this reasons apply. There are times when I myself didn’t feel like playing, or I was legitimately tired and played because a person kept asking, and there are even times when I intentionally pick a character I’m just not good with, but when I take the L then I just take the L. I may mention it once if you’re just trash talking out of your mind but in the end, I lost and that’s all there is to it. Let me paint you a scenario.

Say you’re in an online madden league with some friends. You play through the regular season and one of your friends beats you in week 4 or something. You admit the L, he reminds you of the L. No big deal right? Flash forward into the season and you’re set to play this same friend in the NFC Championship game, the winner playing yet another friend in the superbowl. Now, this current opponent of yours is talking to you about his strategy in the superbowl. Straight up overlooking you as an easy win and basically telling you about it. The match starts and you blow your friend out by 21+, complete domination. Does he say “damn, I shouldn’t have overlooked you” or at least give props? Nah son, he says “I let you win to be nice“. The next time you play him you beat him again but he once again let you win for reasons unknown to the universe. Yes this is a true story and yes, I know he’ll read it (he he he).

People, learn how to take an L and learn to give credit, because we here at VGLounge will call you out. Whether you’re a sore loser, a quitter, a super camper, your feelings get hurt from a little deserved trash talk, or if you’re just a PSN/Xbox live only racist we will call you out.
